Gambing Cloud is named after Australian astronomer Colin Stanley Gum (1924-1960). It is so huge and close to us, but it is actually difficult to see. We are about 450 light years from the front end of the star clouds composed of light -emitting hydrogen, and about 1500 light years from the terminal. In the image of the 41 -degree field of hydrogen alpha bands above, the dim radiation area is easily overlooked in the background of the galaxy stars.
